| OUR MISSION Our mission is to empower individuals and families to realize "The American Dream" of home ownership by providing the very best materials package, plan designs, creative financing and project support through the Owner-Builder Participation Program. It is our desire to have every person and family be successful in the completion of their home building project, while realizing the greatest amount of equity and size of home that meets their needs and budgets. For generations, the United States has been defined by the American Dream, that of home ownership. Both my father and my father's father participated in the building of their own homes. Over the years, they remodeled and added onto that home over and over again. The family would sit on the front porch and enjoy sipping coffee with neighbors while the children played in the front yard; all the while, creating dreams that no amount of money could buy. The American Dream of building a home has not changed and the hope is still there. Today it seems that the best we can do is have hope that our children will be able to own a piece of that dream, although, much less of that dream than our fathers. Homes are now being built in tighter and tighter sub-divisions and on much smaller pieces of land, with little or no front and back yards. Either people are buying homes that are too small for their family or they are renting a home and paying someone else's mortgage payment in the hope to one day own their own home. Smaller lots leave us with less and less to choose from. Not only does The Equity Builders program restore confidence back into our dreams but each and every home that is built has the families future in mind, not only the present. With the family able to choose the lot in the neighborhood of their choice, freedom abounds. Families are able to find the location they desire, considering the school district and distance from work. | | During the early seventies, Tom McCalls Governorship was responsible for a sweeping legislation. This legislation changed the way we view land and how it will be used for generations to follow. Essentially, it is the most stringent legislation ever passed regarding land use in the state of Oregon. It was designed to protect the green farm and forest lands of this great beautiful state. Even recently, the Bureau of Land Management has stepped up these powers to control even more than before. It controls how we release certain boundaries and how developers are able to sub-divide within certain city and county limits such as urban growth boundaries for residential housing. Simply put, cities are not allowed to expand their boundary at will. The land inside the city limits is all the land available on which to build. If it is farm or forest land, it is practically impossible to develop for residential, commercial or industrial uses. Therefore, we have a boiling pot! Supply and demand causes the value of buildable land in desirable locations to escalate in value and sales price. First come first choose and if you are late you loose or move to Arizona! We know that we have no control over what we will pay for land and sometimes how large the lot will be. At Sherlock Homes The Equity Builders, we have developed a technique that enables us to capture the maximum amount of living space while preserving enough area to have a lovely yard. This technique is one of the unique advantages of the Equity Builders program. Our goal and motto is to empower the family to get more than they could originally afford. Our unique design allows the home to have future expansion possibilities and captures the maximum amount of equity when the family decides to sell their home. |
